Video Comparer

Erasing duplicate pictures is a good way to save disk space, but image files are not very large, so you must remove a large number of duplicates. Video files are larger than images, so you may clear more space if you delete them. Video Comparer works like an image duplicate finder, but you can use it to locate duplicate videos. It allows you to compare the results side by side and remove all duplicate files with a single click.

You have to go through a standard procedure to install the software on your computer. It works on 32 and 64-bit Windows versions and its modest system requirements allow you to use it on any modern day machine.

Video Comparer makes it very easy to locate and delete duplicate videos. You can target specific partitions or folders in a tree structure, located on the left side of the interface. The software is capable of scanning your folders quite fast. When the scan is complete, it will display the results next to the tree structure.

Duplicates are grouped into pairs of two. Besides their names, paths and sizes, the program displays their similarity percentages, as well as a side by side visual comparison. It extracts a series of frames from both videos and it places them in the same sequence. You can scroll through both sets of snapshots, with the same slider, so you can make sure that your videos are identical or not.

You may select the found duplicates yourself or use a smart-selection feature. Once selected, you can choose to send the files to the recycle bin, delete them or move them to a Backup folder, which you can select in the general settings menu.
